Personal and Individual Goodbyes

Andrew and I, and the staff at VEREY FUNERAL DIRECTORS in Daylesford and Creswick know this is a very difficult time for every Australian and wish to express our deep concerns over the impact of the Corona Virus COVID-19.

Our role as funeral directors is to honour and pay tribute to a person’s precious life, to handle the deceased with professional care and dignity and provide support to families.

We will also be temporarily closing our office in Creswick but will still be available to discuss funeral details over the phone or by appointment. We are limiting prepaid or pre-arranged funeral meetings and where possible funerals will be arranged over the phone , FaceTime( Apple users) or Skype we will be doing so to limit contact.

We want to assure you that we are up to date and compliant with all current guidelines in relation to the gathering of people, including social distancing and we are taking every precaution in reducing any risk of exposure.

Currently non-essential indoor gatherings are limited to 1 person per 2meter2, so we are restricting all future funeral services to a max. of 20 attendees plus funeral staff, or an alternative is to have an immediate burial or cremation followed at a later date by a Memorial Service or Gathering.

To ensure we do not deny anyone the ‘right to grieve and farewell’, we can arrange a  live stream of the service through our Facebook page so the Service can be watched on line.

We will not be able to offer any catering in our chapel during this time.

Unfortunately, this also means we will need to dissuade people from any form of touching or embracing, a hard call when we instinctively want to comfort others in expressing our sorrow.

We in turn also ask for your support and not attend services if you are feeling unwell with symptoms of runny nose, sore throat, coughing, fever or difficulty breathing.

We will vigilantly monitor new directives from the Government, and act accordingly so the above may change as we get further information. We will work with you during this deeply concerning and frustrating time, assuring you of our pragmatic advice and calm as your safety and that of others will be foremost in our actions.

If you have any apprehensions about attending our offices or chapels,

please call us on 5348 2762 to discuss and to talk about other possible alternatives.

Take care
